Don’t know where to go this winter break? I suggest going ice skating, as it is a very fun experience for anyone who has never skated before, especially on ice. I went ice skating on November 9th, and I must say it was the best and funniest experience I have ever had in my life.
First off, it’s an exhilarating experience that combines the thrill of movement with the beauty of gliding on ice. You get to feel the rush of the wind against your face as you gracefully glide across the ice. It’s a unique feeling you won’t find in many other activities. Also, it is a fantastic way to stay active and get some exercise. It engages different muscle groups, especially your legs and core, as you work to maintain your balance and propel yourself forward. It’s a great way to burn calories and improve your overall fitness.
Ice skating is also a social activity that you can enjoy with friends or family. Whether you’re holding hands and skating together or challenging each other to races and spins, it’s a wonderful opportunity to bond and create lasting memories. Plus, there’s always a chance to meet new people at the rink and make new friends who share your love for ice skating. Ice skating is also accessible to people of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skater, there’s always room to learn and improve. You can start with the basics, like gliding and stopping, and gradually work your way up to more advanced moves, like jumps and spins. It’s a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Ice skating can be a magical experience, especially during the winter season. Picture yourself surrounded by twinkling lights, festive music playing in the background, and the joyous atmosphere of people enjoying themselves on the ice. It’s like stepping into a winter wonderland, and it’s guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
No one is too old to skate; having fun doesn’t have an age limit! If you want to learn to skate either for fun or sport, Columbia Ice Rink has a great program called “Learn to Skate.” This program has group sessions throughout the week and only costs $20. If you enjoy the experience, you can switch to private lessons or catch their open ice time. Sophomore Camilla Skot, who has been skating since she was little, stated it was her favorite thing to do as a child and “To just skate for the fun of it brings joy, and people that look happy while they skate are the best to watch.”
So, my friend, I hope I’ve convinced you to give ice skating a shot. It’s a thrilling, active, social, and magical activity that you won’t regret trying. Grab a pair of skates, hit the ice, and let the adventure begin!
