This is the last edition of your one and only Oakland Mills High School’s Newspaper
After 49 years of serving Oakland Mills High School with countless newspaper editions throughout the years, it is finally time to say goodbye to The Scroll.
“It’s not an easy decision to make, but some things just have to happen, and it’s unfortunate to say that we won’t be able to continue The Scroll,” stated Ms. Moore, the faculty advisor for The Scroll as well as the Journalism teacher.
Of course, as a part of The Scroll community, this decision has left me shocked and heartbroken. After hearing the news regarding the budget cuts for the county, I never expected that our journalism class would be one of the classes that they’d discontinue. “Well, I guess it’s just too expensive for them to spend their money for us to print newspapers that will end up in the trash can anyway,” said Vic Burch, one of The Scroll’s editors. Due to this never-ending economic issue, Oakland Mills will no longer operate our journalism class, which means that The Scroll will also stop its publication, both print and digital.
It has been a nice experience to be a part of this community and learn more about the world, but now it is time to say goodbye. Although you will no longer see The Scroll’s newspaper around the school, including the media, the main hall, and the hallways, you can still visit our website to read our past posted articles at omscroll.com.
Happy April Fool's Day!🦂
