Local cafe worth visiting
Looking for a great local spot to indulge in delicious brunch items with friends and family? Look no further than Another Broken Egg Cafe! Located in Elkridge, MD, this brunch restaurant offers a variety of affordable options. From intriguing waffles and eggs to delicious burgers, there is something for everyone, all while providing a southern cuisine experience.
Upon entering the cafe, I found the area extremely clean and inviting. Outside, there were activities for groups to play while waiting, such as corn hole, which I quite enjoyed. The cafe was full of people coming in to get a table every minute, so the wait time when I visited at around 10:30 am was about 20-30 minutes. I was particularly impressed with the technology available for customers, such as a system that sends a text message once their table is ready.
Once I was seated, a kind and attentive server came and helped me figure out which dish was worth trying. The first thing I ordered was the strawberry lemonade spritzer, one of the best lemonades I have ever had! It was like sparkling water, perfectly sweetened, and included fresh strawberries served in a very aesthetically pleasing mason mug. After ordering drinks, I ordered the Bourbon Street Pancakes with sides of pork sausage and scrambled eggs, the Cookie Dough Waffle, the Grilled Southern Chicken Sandwich, and the Traditional Day Starter.
Once I had finished ordering, the waiter brought delicious Biscuit Beignets, which came dusted with powdered sugar and served with honey marmalade dressing.
The beignets were definitely one of my favorite parts of this experience; they arrived fresh, warm, and delicate. The evenly distributed honey marmalade gave it the extra sweetness that the beignet was missing. After the appetizer, the food arrived surprisingly quickly! First came the Bourbon Street pancakes, which at first glance were extremely pretty. The three pancakes came topped with bananas, pecans, rum butter sauce, and whipped cream which melted from the warmth of the pancakes. Along with this came the scrambled eggs and pork sausage which were very tasty and gave a home feel to the meal. The Bourbon pancakes had a strong taste of banana which was a surprise. But paired with the syrup, it was the perfect amount of sweetness. After this dish came the Cookie Dough Waffle, which was one single waffle. Honestly, it was not as surprising as the Bourbon Pancakes but still had its originality. The waffle was drizzled in chocolate and topped with whipped cream, offering a strong cookie and cream flavor that was quite unexpected. I can definitely say it was light and fluffy! After the waffle, I went ahead and tried the Grilled Southern Chicken Sandwich. The first thing I noticed when the dish came out was that it had pickles. Although I’m not much of a fan, I still decided to try it. The first bite of the sandwich was everything I hoped it to be. It was honestly such an amazing sandwich; it will now be one of my go-to options. The chicken was very delicious and had so much flavor. The sandwich came with a side of fresh country potatoes, which were also delightful. They reminded me of french fries with just the right amount of salt and seasoning. After the sandwich, the Traditional Day starter arrived! This meal is the perfect breakfast way to start your day! With fresh fruits and an English muffin, it was very balanced and tasty, especially with the freshly made bacon! You can even create your own tiny sandwich with the scrambled eggs that come with it. This meal did not disappoint and left a huge smile on my face!
