Another Impressive Season
The Oakland Mills football team has put together four Impressive seasons in the last five years. In 2021, they made the state semifinal, in 2023, they made the regional final, in 2024, they made the state semifinal, and in 2025, the Scorpions were the number one overall seed in the 2A division.
The 2025-2026 Oakland Mills scorpion football team lit up the scoreboard with the offense averaging 37 points per game. One of the stars from this offense, senior quarterback Taamir Oliver, had 846 rushing yards on the ground and eight touchdown passes through the air. The dual-threat quarterback was in a talented backfield with senior Kasen Bien-Aime and senior Shaevon Scott; all three combined for over 1,000 yards on the ground. Senior center Max Zebou, Senior right tackle Emmanuel Oluremi, Senior left tackle Hayes Bishop, Junior guard Daniel Chon, and Sophomore guard Archie Wethington made up some of the Scorpions’ excellent offensive line.
Another reason for the dominant offense was the air attack, starting with senior tight end Elijah Redd. The senior tight end had five touchdowns with six receptions. He was a huge redzone threat for the Scorpions’ offense. Another complement to the passing game was senior Antuan York, a player who could scan the field and take it to the endzone from anywhere. York had seven receiving touchdowns this season and was a big element in moving the ball down the field. His high jump background was a huge advantage since it allowed him to gain height and receive the ball.
The season was led by Senior Captains Kriss Rodgers, Taamir Oliver, and Junior Captain Robbie Johnson. For the Scorpion defense, they gave up, on average, only nine points per game. Given how many points the Scorps were averaging on offense, this team was dominant. Part of the reason was the defensive line with guys such as Senior Emmanuel Oluremi, Senior Daniel Araba, and Sophomores Archie Wethington and Aiden York. The secondary was led by three-year varsity starter and team captain Kris Rodgers. The versatile safety was a huge part of the success of the Scorpion secondary alongside Taamir Oliver and Sophomore Ethen Sokolowski, who led the team with four interceptions. The defense had running backs averaging under two yards per carry in nine of eleven games.
Oakland Mills may have fallen short in a heartbreaking 15-7 defeat against the Glenelg Gladiators, but the season was still bright in so many spots. Though there were 25 seniors on the 2025-2026 squad, there’s a lot of returning talent for next year. The JV team just a year ago went 9-0 in the regular season, so it will be exciting to see what the future holds.
