‘Tis The Season

December usually revolves around many people’s favorite holiday… Christmas! Although it may seem like that’s the only holiday in December, many cultures celebrate traditional holidays in this month as well.

   1. Hanukkah – This year, Hanukkah starts on December 4th at sundown and ends on December 12th at sundown. This is a Jewish holiday that is about the reaffirmation of Judaism. To celebrate it, Jewish people around the world pray, give gifts, play games, and eat food together. Each night, candles are lit for the eight days it’s celebrated.

2. Kwanzaa – Kwanzaa starts on December 26th and runs to January 1st. This holiday is about celebrating  African-American culture through games, eating, and dancing. On the last day, there is a bigger celebration where food is the star of the party.

3. Bodhi Day is celebrated on December 8th, 2025, by meditating, decorating a Bodhi tree with lights and ornaments, reading Buddhist teachings, and doing kind acts. Bodhi Day started from the story of a Buddha who became enlightened when he sat under a Bodhi tree. This holiday revolves around a lot of peace and self-care.
