A Poem by Genesis Houston

To discover my soul

I must explore within

Dare to embark wholly

On this mazy journey

Unravel my brain

To read the words

Which I have engraved

Sift my versed blood

For obscure passions

And drain my heart

To guzzle its truth

I amass these pieces

Which willfully I’ve culled

From beneath my skin

And eye the diverse art

For I highlight its gems

That of covert passion

Of a fated anguish

And all that is love

Past though live loneliness

Be a striking jewel

That hinders confidence

Every piece is of me

So I lift them to soar

Aloft all other souls

The light is my target

And I cry out to all

Whose ears will allow

This is my soul

Bare true
