Meet Our Amazing Senior Adviser

Get To Know Mr. Campitelli

Here at Oakland Mills, we have so many amazing staff members! An example of one is Tony Campitelli, who is a special education teacher, senior class advisor, and helps one of our algebra teachers Ms. Tung! Mr. Campitelli has been in the teaching industry for over 21 years and has met many of his goals. He has lived in Virginia his entire teaching career and comes to Columbia daily to teach at Oakland Mills. Some of the things that he enjoys doing during his free time are going fishing, attending concerts, enjoying sporting events, and working out before and after school.

Mr. Campitelli has a goal of becoming an administrator. He states that in order for him to become a part of the administration team he needs to participate in some type of extracurricular activity, which is why he chose to teach night school! Although it is only some weeknights, he enjoys it because he meets new students and creates a bond with them. This helps students to continue on the path of graduating high school. They will still get their credits and education. Mr. Campitelli agrees that these students should still go to day-school since they learn better during the day due to having more energy, and therefore focus better. Mr. Campitelli believes that this is an amazing school, especially with all of the diversity in our school.

Even though teaching for a long time can be stressful, he sure does enjoy passing time with the class of 2023. One moment that he enjoyed with the class of 2023 was Senior Sunrise, where he states that it was amazing weather and perfect food. It was a perfect opportunity to hangout with his class and get to know each other. Keep getting to know Mr. Campitelli here at Oakland Mills and enjoy your experience with a supporting teacher who you can count on!
