OM Fall Sports Recap

With the fall sports season coming to a close here at Oakland Mills High School, we’re here to take a look at how our Scorps’ seasons have gone!

Starting strong, the Oakland Mills Allied Soccer team went undefeated this season and are the new county champions!!

Our OM Varsity football team had a bumpy start to the season with six straight losses. However, in a rainy 50th-anniversary Homecoming football game, the team found success and beat Atholton High School, 27-22. JV football also beat Atholton’s JV football team with the game ending in a score of 22-0. The season took an upward turn for our varsity Scorpions after the Homecoming game for our Varsity Scorpions, who went on to beat the Wilde Lake Wildecats 22-15 in their next game. The Scorpions played Hammond High School on Friday, October 27th, and beat them 42-6, ending the regular season with a three-game win streak. They played their first playoff game against River Hill on Friday, November 3rd, and beat them 29-6, and they will go on to play Atholton this Friday, November 10th, in the second round of playoffs.

The girls’ golf team ended their season with a 2-4 record with wins over both Guilford Park and Hammond. The biggest match of the year for them was against Hammond. That match every year is for the East Side “Iron Skillet” Championships which Chloe Koh won all by herself (she’s a one-girl team) for the 3rd consecutive year.

The Scorpions Volleyball team (both Varsity and JV) won their games against North County High this past Tuesday, adding another win to their record. Varsity also won their game Thursday night against Northeast Senior High School (3-0) leaving them with a record of 6 wins and 9 losses to close out the season and made it to playoffs but lost their game against Atholton on Thursday, November 2nd. JV ended their season with a record of 4 -10 and Freshman Girls Volleyball with a 1-3-4 record.

A highlight of the season for our soccer teams occurred when all of our soccer teams swept Hammond High School on September 26th, with JV Girls beating them 2-1, JV Boys beating them 1-0, Varsity Girls beating them 1-0, and Boys Varsity beating them 2-1. This happened to be the first win of the season for our JV girl’s soccer team. Our Varsity girl’s soccer team is ending this season with a 1-1-12 record and Varsity Boys Soccer with 3 wins, 2 ties, and 10 losses this season. Good luck, scorps!!

Varsity girls Field Hockey also found luck in their game against Hammond High School on September 26th, beating them 2-1 and finding their first win of the season. They played their last game on October 12th.

Cross Country had four runners qualify for States after finishing in 4th place, 16th, 17th, and 19th. The 3A State Cross Country Championships are this Saturday, November 11th, at Hereford HS.

To our Scorpions who are headed to the playoffs or made it states, we wish you luck, and we’ll catch you in the winter for our next recap!
