Who will be our next president?

The eagerly anticipated 2024 presidential election will be held tomorrow, November 5th, involving former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance running against Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. At this election, the President and the Vice President will be elected. Voting will occur at assigned polling places which can be located on the Maryland State Board of Elections website.

The race initially began with President Joe Biden as the Democratic candidate; however, Biden stepped down and endorsed Harris to continue as the party nominee. This year’s election will determine our country’s 47th president, and also a lot of important policies involving immigration, abortion, and other issues that will affect the future of the United States. 

Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President of the United States, is currently running to be the first female President. Harris’s speech and goals for the future have captured the attention of people in the U.S. and global social media. According to the BBC, she has promised to assist homebuyers with their mortgages, financial benefits for the parents of newborns, and fight for women’s rights.  

Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States from 2016, is running for president again. According to the BBC, Trump stated that states should be free to decide their own laws on abortion. Trump also promised to not cut medicare which provides health insurance for the elderly. He also promised to knock down drug cartels and gang violence in cities that are overrun with crimes.  

November 5th will be the day where America decides whether Harris or Trump will be the new president. If you’re of age and registered to vote, please go out and do your patriotic duty of voting tomorrow. If you are not yet of age, please encourage family members and friends to get out there and have their voices heard!
