Jake Favero’s Second Term as OM President

After the Oakland Mills SGA election, we welcome back Jake Favero for his second term as our school president. The school president is responsible for working with the administration to create events and be a voice for their school and the student body. 

Favero stated that the reason he came back to the position was that he enjoyed being a part of the student government since he was in middle school. He was the president at Lake Elkhorn Middle School, where Favero grew to love advocacy. He “loved acting as a voice for others,” and positively representing our community. Planning Homecoming, being involved, and having school spirit are things Favero looks forward to each year!

In his second term, Favero plans to expand on things we did really well this year. His vision is for us to have “Much more communication with our administrators this upcoming year, speaking to them directly.” He and those on his team are going to serve as leaders for the school and represent the students because “that’s a really large part of why we are here.” Favero’s goal is to make everyone’s voice heard. 

Another thing he said was that he wants to have more engaging school events, such as more spirit days and pep rallies, to make OM a positive and welcoming environment for everyone. Favero plans on continuing our holiday parade, which has been a major success in engaging not only the OM High School community, but the larger community of the Oakland Mills Village Center. Favero also plans to partner with the NHS for an upcoming spring carnival with games such as flag football and even a dunk tank for next school year.

With all Jake has done with his first term, we wish him the best and hope he keeps up his success in making meaningful changes in the OM community.
