Coming into school on time, super early in the morning, is hard. Focusing in classes is a problem many students face, especially when they are sleep deprived and don’t have time to grab food in the morning. That’s where Brewed Awakening comes in, the newest OM student-run coffee shop!
Each year, Mr. Cutler’s Advanced Business class operates a coffee shop for the school, rebranding it to reflect their vision. This year, the class chose the name Brewed Awakening, a play on the phrase “rude awakening,” where the goal is to make sure you DON’T have a rude awakening this school year. The rebranding is coming with many new changes for you to have a better morning.
At the beginning of the year, a survey was conducted to see what OM students liked and disliked about the previous shop, Deja Brew, and what they wanted from the new one. One of the major changes will be the menu change. This year, the shop will be introducing breakfast sandwiches, bagels with cream cheese, cinnamon rolls, and more! Also being introduced this year is the option to add whipped cream to your hot chocolate and candy packs in the afternoon. More menu changes will be released in the future, with seasonal specials and deals that collaborate with student bakers and pop-up shops.
Product quality is also another huge upgrade this year, as the class got new machines and coffee grounds. Accessibility is getting a major upgrade with Brewed Awakening now accepting tap-to-pay. A roadblock from years prior was that many people don’t carry around cash, or don’t have Cash App, so this change will make purchasing more accessible. Speaking about accessibility, they are going to make another mobile cart, so there are more locations around the school for everyone to get to class on time. A website will also be introduced, so students can order online and pick up their order at the pre-set up table. This will enable everyone to get their food much faster than standing in line. Brewed Awakening is making sure that their customers can efficiently and easily access them so they can have a reliable option for food before or after the school day.
The new shop plans to maximize its marketing by keeping students informed of what is to come. This will include updates on social media, surveys, raffles, live performances, inviting student bakers, and more, in order to best help serve students. Merchandise will be sold, including hoodies, shirts, bracelets, keychains, and more.
Brewed Awakening will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, before and after school, so make sure to stop by so you don’t have a rude awakening this school year. Follow the shop on Instagram @brewedawakeningomhs to stay up to date!
