It is going to be crazy months for the Billboard and iTunes charts. As the end of May gets closer and closer and June starts coming around the corner, four of the most current pop artists are going to be releasing new albums.
With the release of her new single “NO”, Meghan Trainor released her second studio album “Thank You” on May 13. Her single “NO” stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks in row, and the music video has so far received over 120 million views. This young pop diva has been taking over the music scene for quite some time since her first single, “All About That Bass” was released in 2014. Now with her newly acclaimed Grammy, she is going to keep blazing a trail of “No’s” and “Thank you’s”.
Another pop diva that is going to be releasing her third studio album is Ariana Grande. With her crazy vocal range and beautiful sopranos, she is once again going to grace us with her lyrically beautiful and unique songs. “Dangerous Woman”, her first single off the album “Dangerous Woman”, captured everyone’s attention due to the different sound that Grande took on. The song features her usual pop influence, but also carries an undertone of R&B as the new “dangerous woman” sings “I’m bulletproof…I live for danger”. This album is expected to come out May 20 featuring collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Macy Gray and Future.
Fifth Harmony will also be releasing their new album “7/27” in late May. Originally said to be released on May 20, the ladies of Fifth Harmony released a statement saying that in order to stick with their theme of 27, they will be releasing their album on the 27th of May. The day and title of the album holds a special place in the girl’s hearts (Entertainment Weekly) because it was the day that the group was formed back when they were competing on X-Factor.
Finally, Nick Jonas is expected to be releasing his second studio album “Last Year Was Complicated” early June this year as well. He has so far released two singles “Close” featuring Tove Lo and “Champagne Problems”. Both these songs have the same upbeat pop sound as his hit single “Jealous” and are sure to be the next summer hits.
Overall, it’s looking like there is going to be a great influx of pop sound meeting our ears.
