Fortnite: Battle Royale is a steadily growing popular game that has been blowing up the charts since its release on September 27, 2017. Fortnite: Battle Royale is a free-to-play online game available on PC, Xbox, and Playstation. In just two weeks of the online game’s release, more than ten million players have downloaded and played the game.  It has been recorded as one of the largest player bases in less than a month, up there with top notch video games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield.  Fortnite developers posted on Twitter that week “In two weeks since we’ve launched, over ten million of you have played Battle Royale. We can’t say thank you enough.”

    As of late January, the numbers of players that downloaded and played the game reached forty-five million players, a thirty-five million player increase just in a few months after the game’s release.

    With the popularity of battle royale-type game increasing, Fortnite is on the top of the charts with rival battle royale-esque game Players Unknown Battlegrounds (PUBG). The numbers for these two games are evenly matched, but Fortnite edges it off by having more concurrent players than PUBG. With the release of Season 3 of Fortnite Battle Royale, fans await to buy new in-game contents and further their experience in finding new ways to play with friends.
