I wanted to do something nice and cook for my family last week. I researched some recipes that looked delicious and that were easy for a novice chef like me to cook. I settled on Oven Baked Chicken Parmesan because I wanted to try something new and the picture looked great. When I started to cook on my own, I thought it was going to be easy, but I was wrong.
During the process, measuring the spices turned out to be more challenging than I had anticipated. I also struggled with how long to keep it in the oven because I didn’t want it to burn, but it didn’t quite look ready after the 15 minutes that the recipe stated.
When the food was ready, I called over my family to come and sit at the table, proud of my work. Ready to hear their praises, I told them to come rate the food that I cooked. My Mom said, “I liked it but put less mozzarella cheese and less marinara sauce.” My dad said, “I don’t like it at all because I just wanted the chicken and not marinara sauce.” My older sister said, “I loved it, but you need more practice.” My younger sister said “I kind of liked it, but I just didn’t like the marinara sauce and also the cheese.” My younger brother didn’t even try it because he’s a picky eater. My family told me that I need to practice everyday in the kitchen so I can improve my cooking skills. Overall, after reflecting on the experience, this will be the last time I will ever cook for my picky family. If you would like to try your hand at the Chicken Parmesan Recipe, it is included below.
