What awaits…

High school is almost out and it is time for summer! You have just graduated and a new chapter of life is ahead of you. It is time to relax and enjoy your accomplishments.

Twelve years of education has paid off and the knowledge that has been acquired will be the guide into your collegiate career or job. Summer break before heading off into the real world is meant to be enjoyed and cherished. The uncertainties of what is to come can be put on hold while the warm weather and outside activities are the main focus. Most Oakland Mills seniors kick the summer off with Senior Week in Ocean City, Maryland. This year, Senior Week is from Saturday, June 3rd to Saturday, June 10th. Seniors go and spend a week with their friends making memories and getting in the mood to enjoy the summer that will start.

I know that most of my peers are excited about summer but still have their eyes focused on the looming fall semester. The summer before college is an odd waiting period. Three months can be long and yet still so short. In my opinion, living in the moment is great, but staying alert for the future and being prepared is also necessary.  Life moves fast and the bubble of time before college should be celebrated and relished. I wish the graduating class of 2023 happiness, focus, and an amazing summer!
