Introducing Ms. Harty

Showing up When it Counts

Math is everywhere in our daily lives. From the homes we sleep in, to the clothes we wear, everything involves numbers. Like it or not, math is extremely relevant in today’s world, which is why math teachers are so important. Here at OM, we are so happy to welcome Ms. Harty as a new member of our amazing math department.

Ms. Harty is currently an Algebra II teacher. She attended the University of Delaware, where she had her first real teaching experience as a math tutor. She has always loved math. In her eyes, “There is math in everything”. After college Ms. Harty went into data analysis for a medical device laboratory. However this job didn’t have the interaction with others that she was looking for. So, 2 years ago, she decided to take a leap of faith and pursue teaching.

Within her first couple of weeks here at OM, several things have stood out to her. Firstly, the amazing community we have here. “I really loved it so far, the math department is such a close knit community and it seems like the whole school in general is a close knit community.” A big part of the community that has really struck a cord within her is the students themselves. For her, interacting with students is the best part of teaching.

Ms. Harty brings a unique new set of skills to the class room as she has real world experiences even though she’s a new teacher. She also reminds students of flexibility in their life. Her best piece of advice to students is this: “Stay true to yourself and follow your heart”.

Here at OM, we are so happy to welcome Ms. Harty to our wonderful school and community.
