Trump’s New Social Media Platform

After the Attack on the Capitol in early January, former President Donald J. Trump was banned from multiple social media platforms. The main reason he was banned was because of the worry about hate speech, and many social media companies wanted to stop the spread of the riots and mobs.

On March 21st, Trump announced that he was coming out with his own social media platform. In his words, this platform will “completely refine the game,” reported CNN. He has had multiple meetings with his team of staff members that are working with him side by side to develop the new platform. Trump first talked about the app being ready in two to three months, but has now moved the release date toward a three to four month time limit.

Trump announced the coming of his app on Lisa Boothe’s podcast, “Truth with Lisa Boothe.” More recently, Corey Lewandowski, Trump’s former campaign manager, told CNN “We’re going to have a platform where the president’s message of America First is going to be able to be put out to everybody.” Lewandowski also talks about the new platform being a place for others to talk freely without being canceled. Overall, Trump and his staff have put hints out to the public, but we must wait and see to find out what exactly is in store.
