On March 17th 2021, college student Nafiah Ikram was getting out of her car when a man ran across her yard and threw acid in her face. The family of Ikram believes this attack was intentional and targeted since Ikram’s father is a driver for television personality Padma Lakshmi.

There was said to be three men outside her house waiting before the attack. OM senior, Laila Keaton, who will be attending Drexel University in the fall, said the attack “is scary and crazy and it should prompt some concern… it feels strange knowing this attack was premeditated and as I’m almost a college student myself, this is very weird.’’

If faced with a similar situation, Keaton said ‘‘it would be effective for one to be aware of their surroundings, then maybe you could help the situation sometimes.’’ It was stated that no arrests have been made and no suspects have been apprehended in Ikram’s case.
