Following a constant sleep schedule can be difficult for most people; however, this is very beneficial for your health. It may not be easy at first, but trust me it will benefit you in the long run. There are so many ways a healthy sleep schedule can improve your life, such as making you feel more energized and improving your well-being.
According to MyHealthfinder, “Getting enough sleep isn’t only about total hours of sleep. It’s also important to get good quality sleep on a regular schedule so you feel rested when you wake up.” Even when I get a decent amount of sleep, I still wake up feeling tired and needing to go back to sleep. This means that I am not getting good quality sleep for myself to wake up with any energy for the rest of the day. According to Sleep Foundation, some ways to help improve your quality of sleep are: buying a comfortable mattress, avoid light, create a quiet room, set an ideal temperature, use aromas, use a constant sleep schedule, take fewer and shorter naps, and disconnect from devices 30 or more minutes before sleeping.
You may be asking how the quality of sleep can improve your health? Well SCL Health explains that “When your body gets the sleep it needs, your immune cells and proteins get the rest they need to fight off whatever comes their way — like colds or the flu.” Then, you will be able to prevent becoming sick because the amount of sleep you’re getting is boosting your immune system – making it stronger. Having a strong immune system will make vaccines more effective, which is really important during this pandemic. SCL Health also explains how not getting enough sleep can be harmful. “Not getting enough sleep can lead to heart health problems like high blood pressure or heart attacks.” Therefore, if you don’t get enough sleep, your body will not be able to function properly which can lead to many health problems.
Overall, sometimes when I notice I haven’t been feeling well, I try my best to get some rest. This may not make all my problems go away, but it does allow me to wake up feeling better in the morning. It’s always good to start the day with as much energy as you can get. If you aren’t able to get enough hours of sleep, try taking a nap during the day. However, try not to take too many naps or long naps because they can throw your sleep schedule off. Taking long naps can also lead to you feeling tired.
