New Pokémon Snap Review

On April 30, 2021, Nintendo released the New Pokémon Snap. It is a remake of the 1999 Pokémon Snap, which was originally released on the Nintendo 64 system. The Pokémon Snap games are about observing pokémon in their natural habitat and you may also seek legendary pokémon. It is a first-person game in which you are a photographer that takes pictures of pokémon in their habitats, which dives in more on how pokémon live in the wild.

Many were excited to see this being released on the Nintendo Switch, and are happy to be able to experience the feeling of nostalgia for those who played the original game. I was pretty excited to play this game again! I first played it on the Nintendo 64 when I was younger. I went to Best Buy to purchase the game and the workers were also excited that the game was released. They were telling me how nostalgic it was for this to be remade for the Nintendo Switch console.

There have been many comparisons made between the 1999 version and the recent game, such as you can go out during the night, whereas in the original you could only go out in the day. You may also edit and share your photos when before you were not able to.

I have been playing the game for over a week now and I enjoy how simple it is to play. It is very exciting to play while capturing photos for the Photodex that you will obtain in order to see the Pokémon’s behavior in their natural habitat. The Photodex is a device in the game in which you capture photos in order to gather data of pokémon’s behavior. You will have to obtain four different types of photographs, they are each ranked. They go up to four stars; the one-starred photos are captures of what is usually seen and four-starred photos are rare observations you have captured. I enjoy how adorable each pokémon are in their own way. You also get to feed Pokémon and they may act differently in the day compared to at night. It is very well made and runs smoothly. I would recommend this game to those who are not too big about an expanded storyline since it is a fun play for everyone.
