Cruella Movie Review

Disney came out with a new movie on May 28, 2020, called Cruella. It’s about an aspiring fashion designer as she explores the path that will lead her to become the notorious villain known as Cruella de Vil. Cruella is played by Oscar award winner Emma Stone (known for her roles in Spiderman and Zombieland, among others). Emma Thompson (known for her role as Nanny McPhee and as Madame Trelawney in the Harry Potter series) also plays a villain in the movie.

From the trailer, the movie looked really interesting. The trailer made it clear that the main character, Cruella, goes through a lot of ups and downs/hardships throughout the story. It made me want to see what happened to her and if she overcame the struggles she was going through.

After watching the movie, I give it a 10/10. I liked that the movie had a bit of a dark side to it. The writers/directors changed the character Cruella to have her own life story apart from the Cruella in the classic 101 Dalmatians movie. Cruella also has a good overall message. The message is that if you have the right people by your side, you can really accomplish anything. I would definitely recommend this movie to others especially if you are big on Disney and the live version remakes of Disney movies.

The Disney actor Cameron Boyce played de Vil’s son in the movie Descendants. He sadly passed away in June of 2019. Cruella was dedicated to him as it was released on what would have been his 21st birthday. I thought it was really nice what they did for Cameron Boyce since he was such an admirable person.

Tune in to see the movie for yourself on Disney+. For now, it costs $29.99 for unlimited viewings.
