Destressing for Seniors by Jasmine Harrison

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the most pain for seniors who just wanted to have the normal high school experience that they have waited 12 years for. Most of the senior celebrations and activities were ruined because of the spreading virus. On top of that, many seniors are scared and stressed about their future and what will become of it. I plan to provide some tips to my senior class on how to destress during this stressful time.

I believe the most important thing right now is for us all to take some time for self care. This year has been a rollercoaster for us with college, grades, friends, and jobs. Since we are all stuck in quarantine doing nothing but school work, I would suggest you take a day or two to actually relax and meditate, exercise, go on a walk, or do anything else that makes you feel at ease and calm.

Also, try not to put more stress on your shoulders than what you already have. Like me, I know many students do all of their online school work all on the same day (and it is not worth it). Make sure to space it out and do it in portions to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

Just make sure you set some time aside for just yourself and make sure you are doing well physically and mentally. Taking care of the present you is way more important than what lays ahead of you. You can’t worry about the future without taking care of the now.
