There’s a new history teacher at OM this year, and we are giving you the pleasure of getting to know her a little better. While talking to Ms. Sendak, we realized that she is going to be a great addition to the OM staff. She has a bright attitude and absolutely adores her students and their brutal honesty. Ms. Sendak has been teaching for five years, but before that, she did horseback riding which is where she got her spark for teaching.
Teaching at OM is such a new experience for Ms. Sendak in so many ways. She is used to teaching mainly 7th graders, but now she is teaching 10th graders, which can be a big change. Also, teaching online can be rough, but it’s even more challenging when you’re teaching in a new school that you’ve never been to.
Back in college, Ms. Sendak says she was in the Delta Zeta sorority. One of her favorite memories from college was when she had to defend a thesis in front of four professors, and she recalls that “it was one of the most terrifying but one of the most worthwhile experiences because I hit the ball out of the park.” One of Ms. Sendak’s strengths would have to be that when she puts her mind to something, it will always get done.
Some fun facts would about Ms. Sendak are that her favorite movie is “Zoolander,” she’s still into horseback riding and likes to ride in her free time, and her favorite subject back in high school was science. Make sure to give a warm welcome to one of our newest additions to the OM staff, Ms. Sendak!
Welcome to OM!
