2021 is looking like a great year for anime and its fans. There have been over five new releases in January of this year alone. These new releases include “Attack on Titan” in its fourth and final season and “Dr. Stone” in its second season. For all the avid Anime fans out there, there’s only more to come as the year progresses.
A lot of the animes being released are picking up right where they left off with even more seasons currently being animated. Some of them are the motion picture adaptations of their popular manga series; an example of that is “Sk8 to the Infinity,” which just came out recently. Its original manga was called “Sk8 Chill Out.” The series follows two highschoolers, Reki and new foreign student, Langa, as they adventure the underground skate world ‘s competition and competitors.
“The Promised Neverland” also released this month on the 7th of January, following the adventures of Emma, Ray, and Norman. The newly released season is following the first one that was released in 2019. It is rumored that the anime will no longer follow the manga and will be going original (freestyling). This may come as a shock to some fans as some of their favorite scenes from the manga may not be brought to life through animation. If you’re just getting into the series, I do recommend reading the manga first before watching. There are nine books in total.
The new releases of incoming animes range in genres from “slice of life” to “shounen” to “horror.” A really big expected release is “Demon Slayer,” season 2 and the movie. Japan has already gotten those releases, grossing 32.47 billion yen, which is approximately 313 million USD. The story follows Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu on their quest and adventures slaying demons. The manga series is something you should check out if you’re interested, as well as the first animated season.
Anime fans should be on high alert this year, as a multitude of options will be released by each season. With spring nearing, there’s many more to anticipate and put down on your list to watch, so be on the lookout for them. 2021 is going to be a year of surprises for the anime community.
